Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 15) — A Manila-based celebrity cosmetic surgeon was apprehended in a police operation in Cagayan De Oro.
Authorities from Northern Mindanao have arrested Dr. Joel Mendez, who was convicted for attempted rape and two counts of rape, in a mall in Lapasan on Sunday.
Mendez was apprehended by virtue of the arrest warrant issued by a court in Mandaluyong City last February. He is now detained at Maharlika Detention Center, and will be transported back to Manila.
“We will never stop until all wanted persons [are] arrested and put behind bars since it is our mandate to enforce the law [and] ensure the safety of other people that may be possible victims,” Northern Mindanao Police Chief Police Brigadier General Rolando Anduyan said.
Mendez is the owner of Skinology Spa and Wellness Center, a medical spa based in Quezon City.
