JEFFERSON CITY — A former top leader in the Missouri Senate is opening his own lobbying firm following the break-up of a government consulting company backed by political megadonor Rex Sinquefield.
Tom Dempsey, R-St. Charles, who served as the president of the Senate for three years until stepping down in 2015, announced Monday he will open First Capitol Advisors after the dissolution of Pelopidas and its lobbying arm, Gate Way Group.
“I’ve always believed strongly in family and community. I was born and raised in St. Charles — home of the first state capitol — and our family’s business has been located on First Capitol Drive for 65 years. That’s why naming the company First Capitol Advisors seemed like such a natural fit,” Dempsey said.
