RICHMOND, Va. — Capitol Insider and former CBS6 colleague Joe St. George spoke with CBS6’s Bill Fitzgerald Tuesday to discuss the latest happenings in the politics and the impact on Virginia.

Topping the list of course, is President Trump’s visit to Newport news on Friday, even though Virginia doesn’t seem to get much attention from either campaign.

“There’s a very competitive congressional race in the Hampton Roads area in the 2nd Congressional District [incumbent Democrat Elaine Luria faces Republican challenger Scott Taylor],” St. George said. “From the Norfolk media market, the Hampton Roads media market, they reach portions of North Carolina and North Carolina is a very crucial swing state for President Trump. You combine that with the fact that it’s a very strong military area bill, it makes sense that President Trump is paying a visit finally to the Commonwealth.”
