FOXBORO — Forget what you know about a bend-but-don’t-break defense. That’s not something the New England Patriots are trying to do.
What they are showed up at Gillette Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Things weren’t pretty from start to finish. There were mistakes, but it’s easy to overcome errors when you play with the type of fervor and aggressiveness the Patriots showed in their 36-20 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Sunday was assignment-oriented football and once they got things rolling, it made finding a win a whole lot easier.
“We had to settle down and get adjusted to what they were doing and just played better football overall,” Patriots safety Devin McCourty said. “Sometimes the games go like that and you have to get control of the game.”
Creating turnovers was a good place to start.
