“All athletic activity for Monroe Public Schools will be suspended for the week of August 9th as we review our safety/ mitigation protocols,” the notice said.
High school football teams across the state of Michigan will begin practice today.
But Monroe High School will not be one of them.
The school district posted the following announcement on its website Saturday:
Due to COVID-19 concerns, all athletic activity for Monroe Public Schools will be suspended for the week of August 9th as we review our safety/ mitigation protocols. This entails all practices/ conditioning on-site and off-site. Our first and most important priority is the safety of our students and staff. Information will be posted on this site to announce when activity may resume.
Football teams have been doing conditioning workouts the past few weeks, but are officially slated to begin workouts on a limited basis today.
Helmets are the only equipment that can be worn.
The rest of the pads are not allowed…
